Job Description:
SummaryUnder limited supervision, this position is responsible
for assisting experienced Scientist and Engineers with a variety of
day to day testing activities. This position follows defined
procedures and processes using various advanced testing
instrumentation in order to complete tasks. Testing is primarily in
support of production and new development operations. Requires the
ability to work independently at a high level, as well as on teams,
to complete special projects, perform testing. A willingness to
work either as an independent investigator or as a member of a
multidisciplinary cross-functional team, depending on the nature of
the situation; and the ability to generate accurate and precise
analytical data, interpret data, prepare formal reports and make
formal presentations of results, conclusions and recommendations is
required. The successful candidate will have a strong customer
service focus, and the ability to communicate effectively with
customers who have limited knowledge of chemistry.Duties and
ResponsibilitiesSets up test equipment, monitors and measures
instruments. Performs testing on breadboard circuitry, prototype
units, production units, and electronic circuitry.Support consists
of both technical bench and field set-up, deployment, retrieval and
repairs, with travel to remote site areas as required.Builds
prototype units for testing and experimentation and makes samples
for further analysis.Conducts tests and experiments with new
materials, equipment, and processes to develop data for
specification call-out or to determine suitability of a material
for particular applications.Gathers and evaluates data for
validity, accuracy and completeness.Locates and corrects
malfunctions in product and testing equipment.Performs post-mortem
analyses to determine exact reasons for failure.Performs chemical
processing and mechanical evaluations as applicable.Makes sketches
and marks up drawings as needed to show changes as they
occur.Maintains appropriate primary and secondary metrology
standards, test laboratory equipment or control consoles and
associated monitoring, measuring, and recording instruments.Drafts
calibrating and operating procedures based upon comprehensive
knowledge of product and testing equipment.Calibrates equipment,
instruments, electrical/electronic standards and standards of mass,
force, dimension, and other phenomena during or after maintenance,
and on regularly scheduled calibration dates.Records laboratory
notes and other details, as specified by engineering
personnel.Supports activities identified by Management/Engineering
to maintain equipment in a reliable efficient manner.Works with
engineering to establish test techniques for new product during
development and to resolve product or equipment problems, and may
install, characterize and/or design equipment.Improves and refines
existing fixtures, devices, methods, process steps or procedures,
implementing changes as necessary.May provide technical direction
and training to other technologists and hourly employees to include
task or project lead duties.You Must Have4 years relevant
experience or 2+ years' experience in a related technical role plus
2-year technical degree or 4-year technical degreeSome positions
within this classification may require unique electrical,
mechanical, chemical processing and/or electronic skills and
abilities.Ability to travel as determined by the needs of the
business.Ability to work remote, hybrid, or on-site as directed by
management and is determined by the needs of the business.Regular
and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job.United

of Energy (DOE) security clearance (some positions require
additional DOE designations)We ValueExperience in a role related to
laboratory testing and analysis in Analytical Chemistry.Experience
with various aspects of Analytical Chemistry such as wet chemistry,
bench chemistry and other methods. Experience with SEM and other
Electron Optics TechniquesProficiency in MS office products and
plant based Portal web applications.Six Sigma Greenbelt.Ability to
interface effectively with internal organizations.Strong
interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively
